Dance Classes

Tiny Tot Class is an introductory class that immerses children in the bases of dance specifically in the areas of tap, jazz, and ballet. Through instructional song and group activities they acquire the appropriate skills needed to advance to the subsequent levels of dance. This class is offered for ages 2-4.

Ballet Class is essential for any dancer. It is the technical foundation from which all other dance forms derive from. Ballet class consists of barre, center floor, and progressions (movements across the floor), which all contribute to building the basic ballet technique. This class is offered at various levels for ages 5-18 and is required for Ja'Duke company members.

Pointe Class is an upper level ballet class in which students execute particular movements using special pointe shoes. Previous ballet experience is needed; speak with Kim prior to registering for this class.

Tap Class uses combinations of steps in order to create various rhythmic patterns and phrases. This class teaches musicality, rhythm, shading, control, and phrasing. The popularity of tap is growing rapidly and it is becoming crucial for any aspiring dancer to gain awareness of this dance form. This class is offered at various levels for ages 5-18 and is required for Ja'Duke company members.

Jazz Class focuses on the classical style of dance that can be seen in numerous on and Off-broadway shows. Students will learn the very essence of jazz performance through creative movement combined with the technical foundation gained from ballet class. This class is offered at various levels for ages 5-18 and is required for Ja'Duke company members.

Lyrical Class is made up of an expressive dance form combining ballet technique with jazz style. Students will use this style to tell a story. Lyrical is the most expressive form of dance that lets students communicate through movement their thoughts and feelings. This class is offered at various levels for ages 5-18.

Hip-Hop Class teaches the upbeat and energetic style of dancing that is often seen in music videos. The class has a laid back atmosphere where the focus is on FUN. This class is offered at various levels for ages 5-18.

Adult Class is for all those who are young at heart. This combination class of tap and jazz will give the "big kids" a chance to shake their groove things. No previous dance experience is needed. This class is for ages 19 and up, no ID required.

Private Lessons allow dancers to have one-on-one instruction in any area of dance. It gives students the opportunity to further their dance education through intensive teaching. Over the course of the dance year students will learn a routine that will be showcased at the end of the year. Duos, Trios, and small groups can be formed through private lessons. These dances will also be showcased at the end of the dance year. Private lessons are by weekly appointment and for ages 5-18.

Acting Classes

Acting Class will provide participants with the basics of the stage performance. This includes techniques like proper projection, diction, etc. The aspiring actors will be taking part in a number of improvisational games to make them feel comfortable on stage and in the presence of an audience as well as build confidence in their ability to act. In addition, the students' will be reciting and performing monologues and scenes to finally apply and strengthen the skills they learned.

Musical Theater class will have students studying the basic make-up of songs from Broadway shows. They will also learn about different Broadway time periods and styles. Students will learn multiple songs and perform them in front of the class.They will also learn a group number from a Broadway show to perform in the JCPA showcase.

Choral Classes

Choral classes will provide participants with the basics of vocal performance. To become confident and expressive singers, students will learn proper breath control, vowel formation, and the basics of blending and choral harmony. Through the use of delightful music literature appropriate to each age level, Ja’Duke choral singers will grow as performers by participating in various Ja’Duke shows.

Recording Studio

Recording studio services are available for vocal or instrumental CD recordings. Recordings are produced using stereo and multi-track digital recording techniques. Available by appointment for individuals or groups.
